Class Descriptions

All yoga classes emphasize the importance of breath in the physical practice, as well as the importance of awareness. While students are encouraged to experiment with the limits of their practice, safety is also a top priority. Remember to respect your body in all your classes! Always feel welcome to inquire with your teachers about any questions that your practice may bring up. You may find that you have many questions, for yoga is a journey, not a destination!

You may also begin to notice that yoga practice encourages you to explore contradictions. Your teacher may ask you to maintain both strength and flexibility, for example, or groundedness and suspension, or awareness and relaxation. Yoga practice often asks that we learn to exist in a state of balanced opposition. This balance can assist you in your daily life, as you to discover how to temper anxiety with ease, rigidness with openness, looseness with solidity.

Hatha Yoga - All Levels

A general yoga class open to students at all levels, where poses of varying levels of difficulty are introduced, along with modification and intensification tips allowing you to personalize your practice. This is the ideal class if you are new to yoga, or if you want to settle in to a regular practice. Each class features a few moments of initial breath setup, a series of yoga poses designed to improve balance, increase flexibility and build strength, and a final period of meditation and/or rest.

Hatha Basics

This is a gentle, beginners-level yoga class designed for students new to their practice. Although not necessarily an introduction to yoga, this class focuses on providing pose introduction in greater detail than a traditional Hatha class. Intermediate poses may be introduced, but with modification. This class has an educational, light-hearted focus – questions are encouraged!

Flow Yoga - All Levels

Flow Yoga courses introduce both beginner and intermediate poses, which are linked together seamlessly through breath-based movement. Variations of sun salutations are often integral to this practice, which is ideal for those wishing to develop greater endurance and strength, as well as burn some additional calories.

Gentle Yoga

This shortened, extremely gentle yet effective class is designed to build flexibility and strength for seniors or anyone looking to recover from injury or illness. This class is also ideal for those looking for a relaxing, non-threatening environment. Focus is on increasing fluidity of joints and adding flexibility through the extensive use of props to support the body, and also includes a focus on relaxation.
